SUNSHINE SKATE SHOP 🌞

Hello, skaters this week I wanted to spend time highlighting a skate shop here in Melbourne Florida. Owned by Michael who has played roller hockey for several years and Kesslie Who is a recreational skater who picked up the hobby during the Covid-19 pandemic. They both love the sunny state of Florida and moved here from California. This young couple has two beautiful daughters named Kairi and Sage. Below are some questions I asked the owners of sunshine skate shop to understand the shop a Lil more and the reason behind it so if you ever wanna own one yourself you can come here for some inspiration.

What made you wanna open a skate shop?

“So when we moved to Florida from California we saw this elderly woman pass by us on inlines and that motivated us. At the time during the pandemic, we were looking for things to do, and seeing her on skates inspired us to get into the sport. We immediately went to dicks sporting goods and bought a pair”

What motivated you to tackle this market ?

When Kesslie started shopping for new skates after she had outgrown her old pair she had a hard time finding ones in her size and having access to try them on in person. She had to drive down from northern Florida to Miami to try skates on and eventually couldn’t find a pair and had to order online hoping they would fit. We don’t want that to happen to anyone else so we are trying to bridge that gap.

When did you think about opening a shop catered to roller skates and roller blades?

“We did bite the bullet and killed all fear to make this shop happen. We thought of the idea November 2021 and here we are now having our grand opening with faith that we will do great.”

How will your shop help the community ?

“We have two kids one 3 years old and a two-month-old. I wanna see more families get into skating and support the community that way. We also wanna support local skate artists and businesses in any way we can. Spreading sunshine with skating is what we intend to do”
